I seem to recall a report of an archaeological investigation of the site at Jericho but I don't remember it mentioning proof that a 'shout' caused the walls to fall. Instead, it was a supernatural event guaranteed to Joshua by Jesus Himself in Joshua 5:13 to Joshua 6:5 in which He explained to Joshua what to do. Joshua then explained to the army and the priests and people what the Lord had said. I listen to a man named Chuck Missler on Blue Letter Bible (sorry eBible staff) audio and he pointed out two violations of God's laws regarding this battle. First, the Ark was never supposed to go into battle and second, the Levites (priests) also weren't to be involved in warfare. But, The Lord Himself gave the instructions and I'm sure Joshua reasoned 'Who am I to dispute God Almighty?' As far as historical evidence here is a link from 1990 of proof outside the Bible, http://www.nytimes.com/1990/02/22/world/believers-score-in-battle-over-the-battle-of-jericho.html. I prefer to enjoy the Scripture and see it as an event proclaimed by the Lord and seen to completion by Him as well.
