Are people still called to fight demons?
Ephesians 6:12
ESV - 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

It seems to me that, even more than in New Testament times, we as Christians are now exposed every day to the activity of Satan and his demonic forces in the form of temptation by the unsaved world's system of values, and by the fallen natures that we still retain, despite also having the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, as even Paul acknowledged (Romans 7:15-24). Whether we actively seek combat with those evil forces or not, and even though they are spiritual rather than physical or visible beings, we as Christians are thus continually called on to fight them. Those forces are powerful, which is why Paul instructs believers in the passage cited in the question (Ephesians 6:10-17) to "put on the full armor" of God in the form of truth, righteousness, the peace of the gospel, faith, salvation, the word of God, and prayer, in order to be able to overcome them.
