It's unfortunate that there are words that have been relegated to being buzz words. The word 'Prosperity' is such a word. It produces negative thoughts (in some people) when used in conjunction with theology. I guess it is that people who want to be thought of as seriously devoted to genuine fellowship with God, shouldn't give a lot of effort to "getting ahead" in life. If they want "Prosperity," they're only serving or offering God praise in order to be blessed abundantly. That's an assumption based on a theological doctrine that is founded in grift.

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers (3 John 1:2).

I don't think there's a clearer version of what the Scriptures teach about prosperity, which is the question here. If the question WAS whether we're to value wealth and material blessings more than we value our faith, then I think the mere fact of THAT question would make it obviously inane.

A rich young man who wanted to know what he could do to obtain eternal life, was told to sell all of his possessions and give the money to the poor, and he would have treasure in heaven. If the conjunctive phrases that Jesus used is omitted, it reads like this: "If you want to be perfect, come and follow Me." Matthew 19:21

Omit the "go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven," and it's clear what Jesus means: "follow Me and you'll have it all." Perfection! Now that's prosperity!
