So Jesus was crucified on Thursday, not Friday, and fulfils what He said about being three days and three nights in the grave, the sign of the prophet Jonah.
It also means that Jesus did not eat the Passover meal as He was the sacrificial Lamb, crucified before Passover started on Thursday evening. This also fits the requirements of the Old Testament about what could or could not be done on Passover evening and day following .
It also explains why there was a hurry to get the bodies off the cross as there would be two full days before any work could be done, Thursday afternoon until Sunday morning.
Also the Passover lamb was not to have any bones broken which explains why Jesus' legs were not broken, as was normally done to hasten death, Jesus having already died.
