9 All who make idols are nothing, and the things they treasure are worthless. Those who would speak up for them are blind; they are ignorant, to their own shame. 10 Who shapes a god and casts an idol, which can profit nothing? 11 People who do that will be put to shame; such craftsmen are only human beings. Let them all come together and take their stand; they will be brought down to terror and shame.
Isaiah 44:9 - 11
ESV - 9 All who fashion idols are nothing, and the things they delight in do not profit. Their witnesses neither see nor know, that they may be put to shame. 10 Who fashions a god or casts an idol that is profitable for nothing?

The idol makers of whom Isaiah was speaking would be put to shame when their idols would be proven to have no power to help them or to deliver them during the coming terror and destruction that would befall them as a judgment from God against their idolatry. The same cautionary warning would apply to anyone (even today) who places more importance, priority, or reliance on any material or temporal thing (even if not represented by an actual physical or tangible idol as in ancient times) -- such as money, power, or possessions -- than on God, who is the ultimate source and grantor of all such blessings.
