The Spiritually blind are those that do not belong to God (John 8:44) They belong to satan.
They can't "see", "hear" nor "understand", much less believe the Gospel of Christ...1 Cor 2:7-14
Jhn 12:39-40 NIV - {39} For this reason they could not believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere: {40} "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn--and I would heal them."
They are as Paul describes believers before we were saved...Eph 2:1-5.
They are "dead" and need to be made alive, born again by the Grace of God.
Until God opens their heart they CAN NOT believe...Acts 16:14

Figuratively, blindness is used to represent lack of mental perception, lack of prevision, recklessness, and incapacity to perceive moral distinctions (Isa 42:16,18,19; Mt 23:16 ff; Jn 9:39 ff). Alex. Macalister Dr. Warren Wiersbe sees Religious Stuper/Spiritually Ignorant as the symbol in 2 Cor. 4:4 and Isa 42:16, 18-19. I have heard many sermons about spiritual blindness, and the preacher would base such teaching on 2 Corinthians 4:3-4 3 But if our gospel is hid, it is hidden to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. Wiersbe, like Michael, also include Revelation 3:17 in this category— RE 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:... One cause of spiritual blindness is greed (Numbers 22:20-23). Balak sent for Balaam again and again, tempting him with bribes but Balaam remained firm. Instead of saying with Daniel, “Thy gifts be to thyself and give thy rewards to another,” Balaam caught the bait held out and proved that he loved the wages of unrighteousness. What is spiritual blindness? The question always reminds me of the account recorded in 2 Corinthians Chapter 3, where Paul describes Moses coming down from the mountain with his face glowing, and the Israelites telling him to cover his face. 2 Cor 3: 12-16 ESV: "Having therefore such a hope, we use great boldness of speech, 13 and are not as Moses, who put a veil upon his face, that the children of Israel should not look stedfastly on the end of that which was passing away: 14 but their minds were hardened: for until this very day at the reading of the old covenant the same veil remaineth, it not being revealed to them that it is done away in Christ. 15 But unto this day, whensoever Moses is read, a veil lieth upon their heart. 16 But whensoever it shall turn to the Lord, the veil is taken away." Paul here shows that the people were blinded and did not let God's word touch their hearts [they were spiritually blind]. What spiritual blindness is: A closed heart and mind toward divine truth. People may hear Scripture or witness God's works yet fail to grasp their meaning. A condition where God's presence, wisdom, and works are not recognised. A state of rejecting Christ, which results in not understanding God at all. How the Bible describes it: Old Testament: Israel often "had eyes but did not see," resisting God's message (Isaiah 6:9–10; Ezekiel 12:2). Jesus' teaching: Some who see physically are spiritually blind, while those who admit their blindness can receive true sight (John 9:39). Paul's explanation: The "god of this age" blinds unbelievers so they cannot see the light of Christ. Causes of spiritual blindness: Sin and hardness of heart — repeated rejection of God dulls spiritual perception. Pride and self‑righteousness — relying on one's own wisdom instead of God's. Satanic deception — actively blinding minds to the gospel. Worldly distractions — being consumed by temporary things. Unbelief — refusing to trust Christ. Signs of spiritual blindness: Seeing God's truth as foolish or irrelevant. Inability to understand Scripture. Moral and spiritual confusion, even when exposed to God's Word. The cure for spiritual blindness: Divine intervention: God opens spiritual eyes through the Holy Spirit. Faith in Christ: Recognising one's blindness and turning to Jesus brings true sight. Repentance and humility: A softened heart becomes receptive to truth. Conclusion: You recognise spiritual blindness in yourself when your inner responses to God's truth become dull, resistant, or distorted. The Bible frames this as a heart condition—where you hear truth but cannot receive it, or you see God's works but cannot interpret them.
