Genesis 2:2 indicates that God completed the creative activity that He had engaged in on the six days of creation noted in Genesis 1, which was why He rested on the seventh day. In my opinion, any apparent creative activity that has occurred in the universe since that time has been the result of the natural functioning of all the various processes and systems that He put in place during that original creative period, rather than indicating a continuation of such activity on the part of God Himself. (Even the preparation of the "new heaven and new earth" spoken of in Reveation 21:1 would have occurred during that original period of creation, as noted by Jesus' invitation to His followers in Matthew 25:34 to inherit the kingdom that had been prepared for them "from the foundation of the world".)
Every human being born into this world is a new creation. We are not the product of evolutionary processes. Every person is endowed with a spirit in the image of God, making each of us spiritual beings who will live forever (Gen 2:7; 3:22). Every Christian who is born again by the Spirit of God is a new creation; the old is gone and the new has come (2 Cor 5:17). When Jesus comes to establish a new heaven and earth, it will be a new creation, because there will no longer be any sun. The presence of God on earth will provide all the light we need (Rev 21:22-23; 22:5). God himself said he would create a new heavens and a new earth (Isaiah 65:17-25). God himself said he was doing a new thing, creating streams in the wilderness (Isaiah 43:18-21).
