I believe that this passage speaks about the Great White Throne judgment. Matthew chapter 24 records that that will be a time of great distress. It will be unparalleled since the world began and the world will never be that exact way ever again. Mark 13:20 says that because God is gracious, He will shorten those days to allow survivors. In Jeremiah chapter 30, we are told that day will be a disaster. It will be awful. However, Jacob (the nation of Israel) will survive. No other day will be like that day! Daniel 7:10: "In the presence of God a river of thousands will be serving Him." When the court convenes, the books will be opened. (Notice there are books) In chapter 10 of Daniel, it says that the record of truth will be revealed. Revelation 20:11: Jesus will be sitting on the White Throne and judgment will take place. IN Revelation 21, the New Jerusalem, the messianic age has arrived. Only the names written in the "book of life" are allowed to enter and be with "The Lamb" and "His Bride!" That is my thought. That day will be glorious! At least, for those who have faith in Our Lord and Savior....
