Remaining single can be for different reasons. Bible gives both views of exalting singleness and as a great call for holiness and responsibility by being single. As human beings on earth, we have certain responsibility. It may be looking after your old, sick parents, siblings or people in distress, ignorance, suffering, ungodlyness, victims of injustice and torture. One may choose a career to better devote himself or herself to this cause and not get married because one's you get married you have the responsibilities of looking after your spouse and children and may require to be more partial and lenient as a father or mother or husband or wife! This may cause problem in carrying out the real mission and vision one initially chose to live.

But being single one is not alone. But he is having a greater call in the world to live and consider all people as his brothers and sisters, children and parents with responsibility and discipline. This is a much tougher task like that of angels and God himself. But they all live in union not as singles. Our God himself a Trinity one God but exists in three persons. The angels do not have wives and husbands but are always in a God's holy community and not singles. Their mission and vision is the welfare of everyone in truth, holiness and submission to god in love and freedom. And so a single living person's mission and vision also like that of angels!
to live in holiness and faithful submission to God in union with others.

What a calling to live like an angel while on earth!. Truly this is an adventurous but most disciplinary call and requires special grace from God not to fall victim to the temptations of flesh and desires of selfishness of mind and heart!

We read it in plenty in the scriptures 1 Corinthians 7:1-4 ESV,
Mt 22:29-30, ESV, 1 Corinthians 7:26- 28, and 7: 32- 35 ESV,
Mk 10: 29 NIV, Lk 18:29 NIV and in many other places
