The Ephesians 1.19-21 quote in the first response hits on another very interesting correlation to the right hand: that is, God's very powerful right hand. It represents His unfailing strength, that never quavers. His right hand can always be relied upon for righteous victory. Compare Isaiah 41.10 and surrounding.

The Son of David" is claimed by the LORD Jesus Christ as He is the "greater son of David" or the Messiah. If Jesus Christ is the son of David, is David God? This always confuses me. Thank you in advance for any clarity.

Hi, Susan,
You are correct that Jesus is the "Greater Son of David." Jesus is also the "greater son of Judah." Judah is not God, and we know this by the context that Judah committed sin in his lifetime, and God is sinless. In like manner, David committed sin, and also, by definition, cannot be God.
Being the "greater son of David, or any of the kingly line of descendents, did not make Jesus, God. What makes Him God is that which is spoken of in John 1:1-14. That is, Jesus was, is and always will be God. He is the "greater son of David" in the sense that all Israel and the world of believers, were looking for that "ruler" (Micah 5:2), the promised Messiah (Isaiah 7:14; Jeremiah 31:22) who would come in fulfillment of all these & more prophecies in the Bible.
