It is true that the baby Jesus was born without inherited sinful nature, but think of what God was risking!

Being fully human, God's Son was not "immune" to the possibility of sinning. He was tempted just as we all are (Heb 4:15), and had he succumbed just once then God would be tainted by sin, the Trinity would be shattered.

Indeed, this is what happened when Jesus took upon himself our sins on the cross (Mat 27:46, Mark 15:34), but by being sinless and thus not deserving of death, God raised and restored him to everlasting life (Acts 2:32)
