HaShem (The Name), as reference to God's Name. It is common Jewish practice to restrict the use of the word Adonai to prayer only. In conversation, some Jewish people, even when not speaking Hebrew, will call God HaShem, which is Hebrew for "the Name" (this appears in Leviticus 24:11). Typical for ancient worship for the priest to call on the name of the god, e.g. Apollos, Diana. The Jewish High Priest also calls on God's Name once a year only, and only he can do it.
