Why would the Gerasene people beg Jesus to leave their region after He cast the demons into the pigs?

Luke 8:26-39

Mark 5:1 - 20

ESV - 1 They came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gerasenes. 2 And when Jesus had stepped out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit.

I humbly submit the short answer is that the economy and business plan of the region was dependent on the flow of visitors to the temple of Zeus. These Jewish Hellenists, some workers of wood, stone, and jewelry made idols and others raised unclean animals for temple sacrifice. Isaiah 44:9; Isaiah 44:19

Pigs were the required sacrifice on the altar in the temples of Zeus Olympus (Greek) or Jupiter Capitolinus (Roman), the same supreme god of all Hellenic theology known as the "king of gods and man" which was in the region.1 Corinthians 8:1

I submit that the Lord traveled the 180 degrees opposite Galilee bringing light into the darkness, but the people chose the temporal profits of darkness instead. Not only was He bad for their business plan by dinging many local pocket books, He also showed them that their supreme god didn't seem to be too supreme after all, even on his own dark turf. Zechariah 4:6; Isaiah 61:1

I feel like it's because that they think that they can't be in the presence of the Messiah, so they ask Him to leave. As it says in Matthew 18:20 - "For where two or three gather in My Name, there am I with them." This verse shows that when believers come together in the name of Jesus, His presence have a great impact on them, and they might feel guilty of being in His presence.
