I would like to share this scripture, 2Timothy 2:4: "No soldier in active service entangled himself in the affairs of everyday life, so that he may please the one who enlisted him as a soldier. " As believers we have been enlisted into the army of the Lord, and as soldiers we have been given orders in how to engage in spiritual warfare. When we receive Christ we become citizens of the Kingdom of God and have an enemy named Satan who has already been defeated. I believe this is the reason that we have been instructed to stand. Standing firm on the word of God in the full assurance of our faith in the finished work of Christ and what He accomplished at the Cross. I believe that your question speaks to the position that we have in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. Jesus has been given all power in heaven and on earth and He has given us authority against the powers of darkness. Luke 10:19 "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. As believers we have been given power to cast out devils, the same thing Jesus did during His earthly ministry. Jesus was anointed by the Holy Ghost to set at liberty all that were bound by the powers of darkness. He delivered all that were possessed by demons and oppressed by the devil. We have been given spiritual weapons to use against the powers of darkness. The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit and is to be spoken against our adversary. Prayer is a weapon, that's why we have also been instructed to pray always in the Spirit. I would like to end with this scripture, 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ. "
This is because God gave all authority on earth to man. So because God is Righteous He can not break His own laws. Therefore He can only act on earth if and when we ask him to.
I like to come up with simple answers. Demons are Satan's army. In Matthew 9, enough demons lived in two Gadarenes to possess a whole herd of pigs when Jesus commanded. But, I always think that the demoniacs we're not simply overwhelmed at once; it all starts, I believe, if we try to take on a demon, or Satan, alone and without the Spirit and Word, unprotected by our shield of salvation. Satan and, therefore, his army are smarter and stronger than any man or woman. It would make more sense to hold a lighted stick of dynamite than to invite a confrontation with one of the evil ones.
It's fairly simple - God does not interfere in the choices that men make (as allowed by His sovereignty), and it would be consistent that He does not interfere in the choices that demons make (as allowed by His sovereignty). When Jesus walked on earth, the demons recognized His authority over them and submitted to His commands (Mark 5:1-20). We read in Rev 20:1-3 that Satan will be chained for a thousand years, but then will be released to do what he wants for a while. God also accomplishes multiple things at the same time as part of His plan of salvation. The instructions to Christians in the Bible are for our edification, to make us more like Christ while we are here on earth - otherwise, there would be no reason to leave us here after we come to faith. When we pray and act in faith, it builds our character and our faith, and faith is necessary to please God (Heb 11:6).
God created everything including spirits-angels and the fallen ones. God gave each one a spirit to know the creator. When believers ignore the advise and guidance of Spirit of God, we are not acting out of our faith, and become easy prey to demon possession because we are following the temptations of evil spirits. Fellow people may try to help exorcise demon from other possessed men, but without faith in God it is insufficient to cast-out a demon. Demons are spiritual angels (the fallen) who know and live with God in heaven. They only know and fear the powerful God and the Son - Jesus Christ, so when the real Jesus Christ is in your heart mind body soul, just say: 'in the name of Jesus Christ, I commanded you demon to get out from this man'. Bit if you do not have faith in Jesus Christ, the demon didn't see Jesus Christ Spirit in you, so, who are you to command them to get out from demon possessed? You may even be possessed yourself. Thus, God just wait if you accept him in the name of Jesus or love to embrace Satan, for in each and everyone; heart, body, soul, and spirit. And God just waits to see if a man choose to expel God-Jesus Christ spirits or to exorcise demons from their own self. Who will you expel?
