One probability is that Solomon talks about the assets of the home as providing for one's family is one way in which a husband shows his love.
Beams of cedar and fir rafters show that the home was built with strong, durable, majestic, stable, fragrant materials. He does not cut corners in provision, and plans for the future.
Another possibility, based off the maiden's comment that 'our bed is verdant', is that Songs 1:16-17 are actually the maiden speaking of their romantic meetings in the outdoors; with grass as their bed and trees as their roof.
