It seems to me that if rebuking Satan were an effective means of battling him that Paul would have suggested it in Ephesians chapter 6. And that James would have suggested it when he told us to resist the devil.
Semantics are important, I believe. James said RESIST, not BATTLE. We demolish arguments and pretensions and take thoughts captive, but nowhere are we given authority to rebuke the devil. Not in our job description, perhaps?
