Alexander the Great's conquest of the known world was a part of God laying the framework for the Christianity to be spread around the world. Alexander the Great believed that his empire should have a unifying language so he forced everyone to learn Koine Greek. With most of the world having that as a common language, when the NT was written it was written largely in Koine Greek, as I understand it. 

Similar preparation of the world to receive the gospel through the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire built roads all over the world to help unify their empire. These are the same roads traveled by Christians as they poured out into the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So both the Greek Empire and the Roman Empire facilitated the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That's a huge effect.
