It is my belief when Christ preached to those that died and was held captive in death. They died in the faith. The blood sacrifice was that of goats and bulls it was just a temporary covering until Christ shed his blood once and for all. If Christ preached to the unsaved to give them a chance then we would have to question the scripture That it is appointed unto man once to die and after that the judgement. We are judge in death for the deeds and decisions we made in this life. I believe if one chooses not to accept and follow him now there isn't a second chance once we have passed from life to death. The choice to live without him now will be to spend eternity without him later. If we are saved just by preacing there would not have been a need for Christ to shed his blood. Those that died before Christ died believing. Christ went to them and testified of himself and released them from death to paradise. Such as the thief on the cross.
Here is my take for what it is worth. Judas was carrying the money bag for Jesus and the deciples and he was also stealing from it. I also believe that Judas was trying to force Gods hand in the fact that if Judas could sell Jesus out then it would force Him to set up His earthly kindom on earth right now. Judas was never a follower of Jesus, but a follower of his own plan where the Jews could rule over the nations again, and the Roman empire would be destroyed.
I also believe that Judas was being controlled by satan inorder to thwart Gods plan of redemption. It was prophesied years before. I do not believe that Judas was ever a believer, and that he did not know that Jesus was going to the cross in order to save mankind from their sin.
Therefore, I believe Judas is in hell right now. There is a parallel in the church today that Jesus is going to bring many to salvation in the last days and it is this Kingdom now theoligy that is ruling in many churches.
The bible says in the last days, the love of many will grow cold.
Good comments. I used to think that Judas had done what God wanted him to do. Now I understand that the great deceiver always had Judas under control: God allowed his false faith and bogus following because it was necessary AND it was not a case of turning a saved follower. Rather, Judas was always a follower of the evil one; his death is an example of the eternal return on falseness and evil. I.e.,Judas could have invested himself differently but Satan successfully stole his soul.
What happened to Judas is biblical that is at times heavenly issues are incomprehensible in human understanding as God at times is a fire that burns without consuming as it was in the burning bush. Who knows Judas could be still in the burning bush of which God is still in control.
