How does the “mystery” of “Christ in you” in Colossians 1:27 actually affect my daily relationship with God?

I’m studying the word “mystery” in Colossians and Ephesians. I see it means “Christ in you,” but I don’t fully understand how that changes real life, especially my prayers and how I sense God’s presence.

Dear Anonymous, I believe it is the intention of the Holy Spirit, to bring every believer into the reality that we are in dwelt by the Spirit of Christ.

I believe that it should effect us in such a way, that we don't think of God as being so far away from us, but that He is present with us.

I believe that it should effect the way we conduct ourselves in every day life. How we treat our bodies, which are now the temple of God. It is a way to honor Him.

Our life in Christ is a true reality of the glory that will be revealed at His appearance.

Since you believe and have accepted Christ as your saviour, the Holy Spirit will reveal hidden truth or "mysteries" to you. He is alive in you.

The unspiritual man/woman will not receive these revelations. These things are silly to him/her. The fellowship we have is an open passageway for the mind of Christ to express Himself.

He lives in us, and we have access to His thoughts. While we hold onto this relationship, we may confidently quote the prophet's challenge: " For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he should instruct him?"

John 15:15,16: "No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, and whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give to you."

Deuteronomy 30:14: "But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it."

You have the Spirit as your guide; you will know and respond because of His love.

From Colossians 1 we can learn this:

1. The mystery was hidden for aeons but now is made plain 26
2. God is revealing "the riches of rthe glory of this MYSTERY" to Christians 27
3. The MYSTERY is this: Christ in Christians (Christ who is "the hope of glory" 27

Next, from Colossians 4 Paul gives us additional information:

4. Paul prays for the Colossians Christians, the Laodiceans and for all who have NOT yet seen him, that they'd get to KNOW the MYSTERY (Christ) 4:1-2
5.. Paul prays that he might have chances to witness to others of "THE MYSTERY OF CHRIST" -- the reason he was imprisoned 4:3 Paul leaves us a good example to follow here!

(Read Ephesians 1:9-10 and 3:3-10 and add further insights on the mystery. What is God revealing to you?) “Mystery” is a keyword in Eph. As it was in Colossians (https://karikingdent.com/key-word-symbols/)

6. “by what Christ has done, God has shown us his own mysterious ways.” (Eph 1:9, CEV)

7. Mystery [EBD] Easton's Bible Dictionary
the calling of the Gentiles into the Christian Church, so designated (Eph. 1:9, 10; 3:8-11; Col. 1:25-27); a truth undiscoverable except by revelation, long hid[den], now made manifest.
D. Miall Edwards https://classic.net.bible.org/dictionary.php?word=Mystery

"The Colossians 1:27 'mystery' is not a puzzle but a revealed secret. Christ lives in you, your hope of glory. This changes your relationship with God in 2 ways.

First, you no longer beg God to be near you. Christ is already in you. Prayer becomes a conversation from within His presence, not a long distance call. Stop saying 'God, please come close.' Say 'God, help me live like You are already here.'

Second, this mystery shapes how you handle guilt, fear, and loneliness. When you fail, 'Christ in you' means your identity is not your mistakes. Christ is your righteousness. When afraid, the same power that raised Christ lives in you. You may not always feel His presence, but the mystery is a fact, not a feeling.

The hymn 'How Beautiful the Mystery' by Eric Schumacher says, 'Our Christ, our hope, our heart's desire, our King and sovereign Joy.' The One who lives in you is your hope, your heart's desire, your King, and your joy. He was cradled among beasts, died on a cross, and rose again. Now He lives in you. Stop asking God to visit you. Thank Him that He never left. Ask Him daily to make you aware of Christ within you." - chat.deepseek assist
