Why do Mormons refer to themselves as Latter-day Saints? This research is based on a review of articles on Mormon teachings. Through such publications, such as Mormon Doctrine, Articles of Faith, Doctrines of Salvation, History of the Church, Doctrine and Covenants, not my thoughts. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are called "Latter-day Saints" because they believe they are part of the restored Church of Jesus Christ operating in the final era (the "latter days") before His second coming. They use "Saints" to refer to members, distinguishing themselves from the "former-day" saints of the New Testament. Mormon: Initially a nickname given by outsiders due to the Church's use of the Book of Mormon. On some occasions, media professionals and others refer to "The Mormon Church," or "The Church of Latter-day Saints," or "The LDS Church." While these names are not offensive to members of the Church, it is appreciated when the Church's full and correct name is used. Mormonism teaches that God the Father was once a man, that there are many gods, and that salvation involves both faith and works. These differ from the Nicene Creed, which Christian denominations follow. Mormons use the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price in addition to the Bible, which is an addition to Scripture that contradicts the faith I must point out that although the Mormons claim to accept Jesus Christ, they are not in line with what Jesus taught. They follow what man says and not what scripture says. When Jesus said in John, "I am the Way – The Truth and The Light", they follow artificial rules and teachings and not scripture, note what Paul wrote in 1st Thessalonians chapter 5: 21 ESV: "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." True Christians will not be fooled if we "make sure of [or, "test"] all things." To grow in our understanding of the Bible, we need the guidance of God's Spirit, because "The Spirit searches into all things, even the deep things of God", to bring forth their meaning. (1 Corinthians 2:10) This expression means to examine and scrutinise something to see if it is genuine. Paul gives Christians some good counsel in 2 Timothy 3: 16-17 ESV: "Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness. 17 That the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work. So we note that God, through His Holy Spirit, gives us the truth, not man, as they are man's thoughts and not God's, as Paul highlights, and it is only through this Holy Spirit that we can gain understanding, as Jesus promised when He sent the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, Acts Chapter 2 & 3. Jesus himself said that in the time of the end, apostasy will abound (Matthew 24:11 ESV): "And many false prophets shall arise and shall lead many astray." We need to reflect on Paul's words recorded in 2 Timothy 1:13:ESV: "Hold the pattern of sound words which thou hast heard from me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus." Note, the "Healthful pattern of sound words" and this is only found in God's Word, the Bible. And let Scripture and Scripture as found in God's Word, and listen to the warning recorded by the Apostle John in Revelation Chapter 22: 18-19 ESV: "I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add unto them, God shall add unto him the plagues which are written in this book: 19 and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written in this book.
