I read the responses on this site to this question and I can't help but cringe. It's easy to claim that we're different, and to make it sound as if all we have to do is 'shine a light,' but we don't need to shine a black light.
Living amongst gay people isn't a hard thing to do. Before the gay closet door was swung open, we lived among them and didn't realize there was that many gay people. He was your favorite actor; the star quarterback. Gay people are not a problem for christians; they are a problem for judges.
Voting is not a christian burden. Christians were lynched for my community to be able to vote! Working alongside nonbelievers is not a christian burden. Jesus wasn't telling us to avoid certain people!
I can work on a team with anyone who respects others; I don't need to know what they believe about anything that doesn't concern the task we are assigned. I don't care who they sleep with; I don't care about their personal lives. If they're in my orbit, from time to time the Holy Spirit will bring them to mind when I'm in prayer. When he does I call their names in prayer. I don't need to know their story; God knows.
Years ago a co-worker of mine who was an atheist, got hurt really bad and was left a paraplegic; she asked me to pray for her. Look at God!
Nonbelievers are not our enemies; the enemy is! He's ours and theirs!
We are told to not become like the world from living in a sin sick world. To condemn nonbelievers (the world) is to be like the world!
