Why does God have to judge a SECOND TIME?

It seems to me that the Bible teaches that God pours out ALL of his wrath twice--once at the cross (in the past), and once at the great white throne judgment (in the future). How is this possible? If the Messiah took THE FULL CUP of the Father's wrath upon Himself at the cross, what wrath remains for the final judgment? Please understand--I'm not asking about the relationship between love and justice. I'm asking a question that regards quantitative logic. If Jesus took upon Himself the sins of the whole world...what is the current source of sin and evil and the need for God's future wrath? Thank you, and God bless.

Thank you for your response, Shelton. I really appreciate your time, and I liked the way that you analyzed your proof texts. But please understand that I do believe in Christ's Second Coming in judgment. But it seems to me that if we are looking forward to this Second Coming, we must ask ourselves about the purpose of the cross. I mean, what exactly was accomplished? What exactly was "finished" at the cross? The root of all sin is unbelief, but since unbelief exists to various degrees in everybody, it's self-evident that the root of sin remains throughout the world. Can anybody shed some light? Thank you, and God bless.
