This is a very good question, to pray or prayer in Hebrew (original language of the Scriptures) means to entreat {ask earnestly} Ex 33:13, Bow down, Ezra 6:10, or in Ps 55:17, Pray here means: Ponder, meditate, commune, complain, or just talk with. {side note, How many times have I just knelt down and complained to God? While this is quite sad, in this Scripture, I am promised He hears me!}

Matt 6:9 shares a little different light as we move from Hebrew to Greek, Pray here indicates; supplication. In Matt 9:38, to beg, bind oneself to something, to make a request.
So as we look at these Scriptures, to Pray, or Prayer is talking with God, making supplication {ask earnestly}, beg if you must, desire, meditate, ponder, commune with your Creator.

Worship on the other hand is something altogether different. In either the Hebrew or the Greek, the meaning is almost the same. Consider Ps 29:2, to reverence, to crouch down, to adore, to call near, to invite, to kiss the Masters hand. John 4: 23 adds to this; to prostrate oneself in homage, to lick the Master's hand as a dog.

The Lord Jesus Christ said the Father was looking for worshipers to worship Him in Spirit and in truth. John 4:23.
He is the Master, The Owner, The Almighty, Worthy of all adoration. We are nothing without Him! This is an awesome experience in God. Realizing who you are and who He really is.

Asking God to open your heart to His Truth and studying the Bible with a Strong's Concordance is highly recommended! Look at what wonderful treasures in just two lil words! Since ALL Scripture is profitable (IITim 3:16,17) how precious are these nuggets of truth.

[Authors Note: Time and space does not permit including all Scriptures for Pray or Worship nor the full meanings in Hebrew and Greek. Therefore, I have selected my personal favorites. All Glory to the Father!]

Be Blessed,
Lena
