What time period was Gabriel referencing when he said "the time of the end" in Dan 8:17?

Throughout Daniel 8 , there are various time frames mentioned. Daniel 8:14 talks about 2300 evenings and mornings, in Daniel 8:17 it says it is for the time of the end. Then in Daniel 8:26, Gabriel explains that it is for many days from now?

Check the attributes of the little horn power, it is not a person but a ecclesiastical/political power - Rome. It also fits the prophesy of the 1260 years which came to an end in 1798 with the arrest of the Pope by Napoleon (inflicting the deadly
Wound to the Beast--which was later healed).
