In the proper context of Psalms 8, the writer is in blessed bewilderment of how such a righteous God could be so mindful of man, that HE has given dominion and authority of the whole earth, yet man is such a sinner, yet God still holds His created man as important to Him.

I believe this is such a great example of God's grace in the OT. How "grace" is not some new thing that God developed in the New Testament times, but He has always been loving and gracious to us.

Psalm 8:6: Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

The Son of man before coming on the earth was in heaven (John 6:62), for the glory that he had with the Father before the world existed was the glory given to Him by the Father. (John 17:5) The Father in Heaven set Lord Jesus's glory above the heavens, from the beginning of creation as Lord Jesus was sent by the Father, and Abraham witnessed Him and was well pleased. (Gen 18:2/John 8:56) When Jesus was baptized a low voice from heaven came saying, "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased." (Mat 3:17)

When Jesus came into the temple, he cast out all of them who sold and bought in the temple, for they turned the house of prayer into a den of thieves. The blind and the lame came to Him and He healed them, and the children cried out loud saying, "Hosanna to the son of David." (Mat 21:15) The chief priest and the scribes came to Jesus and said, "Hearest thou what they said?" and Jesus said to them, "Have you not read, 'Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise'?” (Mat 21:16/Psalm 8:2)

Every time Jesus went up into the mountains to pray, the heavenly Father would speak to Him, and Jesus would share the word given to him in the synagogue and in the temple and those who believed would be saved (John 17:14,20/18:20). Even the disciples heard the voice, “He is my beloved Son, listen to Him.” For the son of man shall ascend to heaven where he was before. (John 6:62/Heb 2:6-9) Jesus was made a little lower than the angels for the shedding of blood on the cross and saying, “It is finished.” (John 19:30) which stands for, "It is paid for all times for the sins of men who called out to the Father asking for forgiveness for their sinful nature." (1 Peter 1:18-19)

Having the glory above the heavens, which is His throne, He has dominion over the works of the Father for the earth is His footstool. (Acts 7:49) When the time comes the Father will send Him to rapture the church and then bring trials and tribulation during the end times. (1 Thes 4:17) For no one knows the day and time except the Father who will send Him. (Mat 24:36)

Acts 7:49: "Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me?" saith the Lord: or, "What is the place of my rest?"
