I do not agree that Ezekiel 16:49 was speaking of literal Sodom of Genesis. Rather, it was speaking of some other contemporary nation.
My reason is as follows:
1) Vs. 53 and 55 say that Sodom would be returned from captivity, restored to its former state. How could it if its inhabitants had been dead for hundreds of years?
2) It was not uncommon for the Bible to label nations with other names in order to call attention to their sins.
3) Verse 46 says "your younger sister, who lives south of you, is Sodom with her daughters." (NASB)
Quite possibly Ezekiel was referring to another city to the south of Jerusalem or another tribe. To make the parallel fit, another city or town makes more sense.
But I agree that homosexuality was one of the sins for which literal Sodom was punished. Apologists of homosexuality use Ezekiel 16:49-53 to say that God punished Sodom for inhospitality rather than homosexuality. We ought to be prepared and not allow it to be taken out of context.
